Default Hey! My friend and I are new and we were wondering...

Is there any way we can talk to each other? Other than using third party programs.. =[

I'm guessing you mean by voice? There's no in-game voice chat in GW.

The trial probably doesn't let you chat or trade in order to prevent gold sellers from using trial accounts to advertise websites and sell gold.

In the full version of the game you are able chat in several different ways, see here for more information:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Chat#Chat_window

There is no voice chat in the game so you'll have to improvise by using Teamspeak/Ventrillo/Skype/Telephone/Cans on a string/Shouting

Lol.. thanks.. =[

I'm discouraged because we're trying very hard to find a game we'll enjoy. But not being able to talk is hampering our experience with guild wars. We can't even party up to do quests together. We're at a stand still and our only choice is to either buy it or leave it. And I'm not about to spend money on a game I'm not sure if I'll ever play.

I don't mean to double post, but I have another question...

I think I remember seeing that there are new classes in the expansions? If so, can we use those classes in Prophecies?

You can't *start* characters of those classes in Prophecies, even if you own the campaigns. However, once you've advanced them far enough in their native campaign, you can travel to Prophecies with them.

It is possible that chatting and trading will become enabled after time (maybe 24hours) of the trial being active but maybe not, I can't find any information about it quickly.

You could always run GW windowed and use an instant messenger program for this brief period if nothing else works.

All classes can be played in all campaigns, you just can't start that class in another. For example you can't create an Assassin in Prophecies however if you create an Assassin in Factions you will be able to travel to Prophecies after a certain point in the story. The same applies to Nightfall characters. There are no new professions in Eye of the North and you also cannot start characters there as that is just an expansion rather than a full campaign. Moving characters between campaigns also requires all campaigns (games) to be linked on the one account.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

AND ONE MORE QUESTION:

I decided to buy GW. Clearly you all enjoy it, and I've played it in the past and it was okay (I just wanted more friends to play it with >.> but now I have one)... Now.. I already upgraded my account using my credit card. And I went to update my friends' account, so I logged into his NCsoft account and it told me about their account upgrade limit (only one serial code per household/creditcard) and also that I can purchase other serial codes via "different online retailers".

So where else exactly can I buy Guildwars GOTY and have it's serial code instantly?

ventrilo is an excellent 3rd party talking program, but u either have to buy ur own little vent server, find a guild with one set up, or find a public one to hang out on. Skype is a completely free way to talk to one another, but it can be less stable than vent at times, although 95% time it is good ;-). recommend against teamspeak >_>

I believe there is a 3 accounts limit to stuff such as character slots and xunlai tabs, but not sure how it goes with campaigns.

You can buy it from every legal internet source, as long as you don't buy an account that is already in use (Ebay, ingame, etc.)
Most gameshops have some copies of the GOTY edition. Well, the good ones atleast ^^

Hope you'll enjoy your stay in Tyria!
